The Vidor Independent School District had its beginnings in 1929 when four common school districts (Magnolia Grove, Doty, Terry and Pine Forest) consolidated to form the Vidor Rural School District. The District became independent in 1949. Today the Vidor Independent School District encompasses 102.7 square miles in Orange County and 16 square miles in Jasper County. Located 95 miles east of Houston between Beaumont and Orange, the district is home to 3 elementary, 1 middle, 1 jr. high and 1 high school.
