Vidor Middle School paraprofessional Sonja Head was nominated by a group of teachers, because in her three years there, they have never heard her complain about a single thing. "She is always willing to help out anywhere that she is needed on campus with a smile on her face," they said. "She works so well with all the students whether in the classroom, hallway, cafeteria, or ISS room (In School Suspension). She helps out a lot with ELL students (English Language Learners), listens in as a teacher teaches a lesson then gives in to help students with no hesitation, and is always one of the first people the students see each morning as they enter the gym." She is seen as someone whose smiling face helps the students adopt a positive mood. Head is the go-to person to help in the co-teach classroom any time one of the teachers is absent, because she has taken the time to get to know the students and how to attend to their needs. The nominators also say, "She is a great role model for the students and can manage a classroom of kids like a seasoned teacher. She exudes positivity, and is greatly appreciated and valued."
