VJHS Brigettes
 
PURPOSE
The purpose of this organization shall be to boost the morale and spirit of the Vidor Junior High Pirates.  Also, the purpose is to develop character, leadership and individual responsibility in each member.  It is the Brigettes' purpose to represent Vidor Junior High in a manner which will reflect credit upon the school, as well as upon members of this organization.  Each member must abide by the rules set forth in this constitution.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS AND MEMBERSHIP
Members must be enrolled in the seventh or eighth grade at Vidor Junior High School.  Seventh grade Brigettes must participate in the try-out process to be eligible for a position in the eighth grade.
Members must purchase all necessary uniforms, clothing, etc., which are required to perform and participate in drill team activities.  Fund-raisers will be conducted throughout the year to help ease the cost burden of such activities.
Members must respect each other, the director, assistant directors, teachers, administrators and other students.
Members must maintain an over-all average of 75.
If any member conducts themself in a manner that may be considered immoral, improper or in any way disgrace this organization or our school as described in the Conduct section of the handbook, their membership may be revoked.
Members must attend all required performances.  No excuses except for serious illness or death in the family will be accepted.
The number of members of the team will be determined only by the judge's score.

ELIGIBILITY FOR TRYOUTS
Students must have an over-all average of seventy-five (75).  Candidates must have a good attendance record with no more than three unexcused tardies during the current grading period.  The student's discipline record will be reviewed before tryouts.  Any discipline requiring a hearing will automatically eliminate the student from eligibility.  Practices and tryouts will be closed sessions.  There will be a possible three hundred (300) points or more on a master tabulation sheet.  The two areas that will be tabulated are scholastic average and judges' scores.  Scholastic average, attendance and conduct grades will be worth twenty (20) points.  Judges' scores will be 200-400 points depending on the number of judges.

SCORING
The candidates will be scored on posture, knowledge of routine, kicks, splits, flexibility, techniques, precision, showmanship and projection.
