- Exemptions allow students to enroll in public institutions of higher
education while paying a decreased amount of tuition or fees

- Exemptions can be used while attending
- Public universities and health-related institutions;
- Public community colleges; and
- Public state colleges.

- Deceased/disabled peace officers, firefighters, public servants;
- Deceased/disabled Texas veterans;
- Professional nurse faculty;
- Members of the military who are MIA or POW; and
- Clinical Nurse Preceptors.

- Who are Blind or Deaf;
- Who were in state foster care and/or adopted through the state;
- Whose parents received TANF for them for 6 months during their senior
year in high school;
- Who are valedictorians;
- Who are dual-enrolled; and
- Who play “TAPS” at military funerals.

- Provide proof of eligibility to the institution.
- If done prior to the start of the fiscal year, the student’s billing
will be adjusted;
- If proof is not provided until after the census date of the semester,
student will have to pay, and then get reimbursed by the institution.
